Entain has reported a notable increase in betting activity for the Women's World Cup globally as the global women's athletic tournament draws to a finish this weekend.

One interesting trend that Entain's UK sportsbook has noticed is the rise in female bettors on women's football. 

Women made up 21% of bets on average during the first three England matches, according to Entain's UK brands, Ladbrokes and Coral. This represents a 17% increase from the Women's Euros in 2022 and a 13% increase from the previous World Cup in 2019.

The co-hosting countries, where the tournament is being held in the southern hemisphere for the first time, are seeing a similar increase in female bettors.

Data from TAB New Zealand, an official Entain sponsor and partner, shows that women made up nearly 15% of all bets recorded by the platform, up from 9% in 2019.

The co-hosts have also seen a general upsurge in interest in betting on the Women's World Cup. Tab This year, wagers on the competition increased by an astounding 365% in New Zealand and nearly 200% in Australia, mostly due to the remarkable success of the Matildas, the Australian women's national team.

In contrast to Lionel Messi's Inter Miami CF debut, BetMGM stated that there were three times as many bets on the US women's team's initial game on the other side of the Atlantic.

Football is the most popular sport among women's sports bettors, according to a survey co-funded by Entain and IBIA. Since 2020, the sport has seen an annual growth rate of almost 20%.
