The DGA claims that Unibet disregarded its duties under Denmark's Anti-Money Laundering Act to conduct due diligence on customers and to look into any suspicious activity.

According to reports, between December 2016 and 2018, Unibet permitted a player to deposit DKK 1.4 million ($213,010) to his account without providing enough information on the source of the funds.

According to the DGA, this also happened as a result of a 2015 notice from Unibet stating that, even though the player in issue was at the time inactive, they would need to be watched if they started playing again.

In December 2018, Unibet asked the player to provide proof of where his money came from. The DGA stated: "The documentation provided by the player confirmed the suspicion that the player gambled much more than he could finance via his income and assets." This verified their concerns.

However, it appears that the sports betting company permitted the player to add an additional DKK 1.8 million to his account between April 2019 and April 2020.

Now, Unibet is under pressure to provide a report to the nation's Money Laundering Secretariat in two weeks or risk facing more severe sanctions.

The DGA said, "The notification order is given because Unibet failed to notify the Money Laundering Secretariat in the same case, despite the fact that they had a suspicion in 2015 that was never disregarded."

"The breach still exists because Unibet hasn't notified the Money Laundering Secretariat. As a result, Unibet has been given an order to rectify the situation by filing a report."
