The acquisition has been approved by the Nevada Gaming Commission, and as of Monday, December 19, 2022, at 6 a.m., HRI has taken over operational control of the facility.

Until the renovation and rebranding of the venue to the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas is finished, the 3,044-room casino resort will continue to operate as The Mirage Hotel & Casino. The renovation involves reimagining every aspect of the resort, including the addition of a guitar-shaped hotel tower next to Las Vegas Blvd.

"We are glad that the Nevada Gaming Commission and the Nevada Gaming Control Board approved our gaming licence to operate The Mirage Hotel & Casino today, and we would like to formally welcome the 3,500 team members at The Mirage to the 45,000 worldwide Hard Rock family," HRI Chairman Jim Allen stated on Monday.

"We are thrilled to be building an integrated resort on The Strip that will honour this illustrious neighbourhood of entertainment."

HRI has signed a long-term lease with VICI Properties for The Mirage's real estate, and the latter intends to provide information on the resort's redesign and rebranding before year's end.
